Basal squamules persistent, inconspicuous, 1–2 mm long, 0.5–1 mm diam., subdigitately lobed, with smooth margins. Podetia arising from squamules, 2–5 mm tall, 0.5–1.5 mm diam., simple or dichotomously branched, with open axils, tapering towards apices, ecorticate, or corticate at base becoming ecorticate, with scattered tiny corticate patches along podetia, minutely squamulose, escyphiferous, esorediate; apices simple or bifurcating, subulate or with terminal pycnidia. Apothecia terminal, 0.5–1.0 mm diam., convex, pale brown. Pycnidia terminal, 0.3 × 0.3 mm, subconical, black. CHEMISTRY: K-, KC-, P+ red; fumarprotocetraric (major), protocetraric (trace) and bourgeanic (major) acids. | ||
Occurs in W.A., S.A., Qld, N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas.; also in New Zealand; grows on soil. | ||
